Downloading PDFs and Generating Reports

How to download form submissions as PDFs, what to do when downloads fail, and known limitations.

How to download a form as a PDF

  1. Open the completed form submission you want to download.
  2. Look for the Download or Download as PDF option — this is usually in the top-right menu or a button within the form view.
  3. The PDF will generate and download to your device. On mobile, it may open in your default PDF viewer.

Common PDF download issues

Download times out or returns an error

If the download hangs or shows a timeout error:

  • Try again — occasional server timeouts resolve on a second attempt.
  • Try downloading from the web version (web.safetymojo.ai) if you're on the app, or vice versa.
  • Clear your browser cache if using the web version, then try again.
  • Very large forms with many photos can take longer to generate. Wait a full 30–60 seconds before assuming it has failed.
  • If the error is consistent across multiple forms, report it to support with the form name, account name, and a description of the error message.

Only the first tab downloads — other tabs are missing

This is a known issue with multi-tab forms. When a form is organized into tabs, only the first tab may be included in the downloaded PDF. This is a bug being tracked by the engineering team. If this is affecting your account, report it to support so it can be tracked.

PDF is blank or only shows a header

If the downloaded PDF contains only the form header and no content:

  • Check that the form was fully submitted and not left in draft mode.
  • Try downloading a different submission to confirm whether the issue is specific to that record.
  • Contact support with the form name, submission ID if available, and the account name.

Signatures not appearing on the PDF

Signatures added within Safety Mojo forms should appear on the downloaded PDF. If they're not showing:

  • Confirm the signature was actually saved — open the form and check that the signature field shows as completed.
  • Try downloading the PDF again, as the signature may not have been included in a previously cached version.
  • If signatures are consistently missing from PDFs for a specific form, report it to support with the form name.

PDF is formatted as 8.5x14 instead of letter size

Some reports are configured with a legal-size (8.5x14) page format rather than standard letter (8.5x11). This is a form configuration setting and would need to be updated by the Safety Mojo team. Contact support@getmojo.ai and specify the report name and that you'd like it reformatted to letter size.

Timestamps are different on the PDF than on the form

See KB-013 for a full explanation of how Safety Mojo handles timestamps. The time shown when filling out a form, when saving it, and when generating the PDF may differ. If accurate timestamps are important for regulatory or insurance purposes, note the filled time in the form's comment field as a workaround.

Photos are sideways or upside down in the PDF

See KB-005 for photo orientation guidance. Taking photos directly in the Safety Mojo app rather than uploading from your camera roll tends to avoid this issue.

Reporting a PDF issue

When contacting support, include:

  • The form name and submission date.
  • The account or company name.
  • Whether the issue happens on app, web, or both.
  • The exact error message or a description of what the PDF looks like.
  • A screenshot of the error or the problematic PDF if possible.
