Time and Date Discrepancies on Forms and PDFs
Why timestamps can differ between when you fill out a form, when it's saved, and when you download the PDF — and what to do about it.
Why timestamps can look different
Safety Mojo records timestamps at several points in a form's lifecycle, and they don't always match. Here's why:
|
Timestamp |
What it captures |
|
Time while filling out |
Captured from your device's local clock at the moment you open or start the form. |
|
Time when saved/submitted |
Recorded by the server when the submission is received, which may differ from your device time if there is a sync delay or timezone offset. |
|
Time on the PDF |
Generated at the moment the PDF is created — when you download it, not when the form was originally submitted. This is why a PDF downloaded hours or days later can show a different time. |
The most common scenario: PDF shows the download time, not the submission time
A form submitted at 9:00 AM may show a different time on the PDF if the PDF is generated later in the day. This is a known issue being addressed by the engineering team.
|
NOTE If you need the original submission time for regulatory or insurance purposes, check the submission record in Safety Mojo's list view — the listed submission time is more reliable than the time on the PDF. |
Timezone differences
If your device is set to a different timezone than your organization's primary timezone, or if the Safety Mojo server records times in UTC, the displayed times may be offset from what you expect. To check: compare the time shown on your submission to the actual local time you submitted it. If there's a consistent offset (e.g., always 6 hours ahead or behind), it's a timezone issue. Contact support to confirm how your account is configured.
Time selector issues on mobile (keyboard blocking the field)
On some Android devices, when filling out a time field on an incident report, the keyboard can cover the time selector and make it difficult to adjust. Workarounds:
- Tap outside the text field first to dismiss the keyboard, then tap the time selector.
- Try rotating your device to landscape mode, which may give more screen space.
- Use the web version (web.safetymojo.ai) on a desktop or laptop for incident reports where precise time entry is important.
Form date fields showing the wrong date
If the date field on a form shows a different date than expected:
- Check that your device's date and time are set correctly and are not in airplane mode (which can sometimes freeze the clock).
- If the date changes after saving or submitting, this is a known sync issue — report it to support with the form name and the dates involved.
Workaround for time-sensitive records
While timestamp issues are being resolved, the most reliable workaround is to manually note the correct time in a text or comment field on the form. This provides a clear human-readable record that doesn't depend on automated timestamp capture.
Need help?
If you're seeing time discrepancies that affect official records or compliance documentation, contact support@getmojo.ai with the form name, the submission date, and the times you're seeing vs. what you expected. Screenshots comparing the in-app view and the PDF are especially helpful.
